The journey has begun! Being a new mom can be a little scary. Being a new mom of a preemie can be down right terrifying! Everything else in your life can seem so small compared to what you are facing with this little life. It can be depressing, intimidating, and confusing; and sometimes you don't even know how to feel. You may pray a lot; and sometimes you can't find the words.
I was there...I was you...Standing right where you are at the beginning of this journey. The road seemed long and uncertain; and at times was filled with so many bumps and detours. I ran into so many storms along this road, but after the storms subsided the sun did shine and a rainbow appeared.
Everything about my journey has taught me valuable lessons in faith, hope, and unconditional love. My family and my church family came together and prayed for us and supported us. The NICU staff was so helpful with resources and education; and they genuinely loved and cared for my little preemie with such gentle hands. It made me feel so comfortable and confident that they were being cared for in that way when I couldn't be there. It was amazing to see all the volunteers who came in to hold the preemies so that they could feel that human touch. It made my heart melt and made the nights easier when I knew my preemie was not alone. We were not alone! We had a village of people supporting, praying, and caring for our miracle!
This blog was created to let you know that you are also not alone! You have a village of people supporting, praying, and caring for you and your miracle as well. Look around you and use your resources: your family, your church family, the NICU staff. Resources are everywhere! There is even a link to my resources page at the top to help you along your journey. Before long you will see your own rainbow; and you will emerge from this experience a new person!
