Journaling....Have you tried it?
It’s important that you write things down and keep track of your baby’s progress and challenges. I knew in my heart that God was going to perform a miracle for our family. I just had to have faith and wait on Him to do it; but what do you do while you’re waiting? Of course, we pray! We pray without ceasing! The bible tells us that, The effectual fervent prayer of the righteous availeth much (James 5:16, KJV)
I prayed like I’ve never prayed before, but I also found it comforting to journal. Journaling helped me in those times when I had to let my heart speak because I was too emotional to utter a single word. I would sit by my baby’s isolette and write prayers to God. I would write my feelings, my concerns, my strengths and my weaknesses. Eventually, I found strength in expressing myself on those pages. I found strength in speaking to God through my writing.
If you haven't started to journal, I encourage you to do so. Journaling allows you to release from your heart. For me it was a much needed therapy and outlet. If you already journal, how has it helped you to cope with your NICU journey? How has it helped you after you brought your baby home?
